The Maldives is one of the world's most geographically dispersed countries and the smallest Asian country by land area and population. It needs no introduction on its crystal clear sea, water villas, and well-built resorts.
The photos of Maldives that you found online always look so mesmerizing, with the ocean horizon, the resort interiors and the view from your water villa.
There were observations that the seawater has been eroding the islands and due to global warming, the sea level is also rising. So there is a possibility that one day, the Maldives islands may be gone. With that in mind, if the Maldives is in your bucket list, its time you start planning for it :)
Photography gears - GoPro 3, Sony NEX F3 with 16-50mm OSS, Nikon D800E with Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 & 50mm f1.8.
A modest airport at Male(Capital of Maldives).
Speed boating to our resort - Centara Ras Fushi Resort & Spa. Some resorts that are further away from Male actually provides sea plane services which is to me a great experience to have. Unfortunately, our resorts is just 10mins boat ride away from Male.
Holding on tight..
Enjoying the horizon and crystal clear water while waiting for our check in.
There you go.. a cozy resort room.
Since we are on an island, naturally all the foot paths are in sand.
Yoga-ing... for the first time.
The best activity to do in Maldives? Of cos its snorkelling since the water is cystal clear. For the snorkelling gear, you can rent them from the resort but you need to take a "test" to show that you can swim and use the gear correctly. I believe this "test" applies to all resorts as we were supposed to be tested again when we went to another resort but they had our passing records so they rented us the gear without going through the test again.
For food, it is gonna to be expensive to have it at the restaurants... Unless you fish for your own dinner :D usually most resorts bundle their room with full board(3meals) or half board(breakfast and dinner). There will be another package for alcoholic drinks. We went for half board, we had our breakfast late and then activities and then dinner. It worked well without us feeling hungry but we did buy snacks from Male when we touched down :)
Break time from the sun..
One of our favourite things to do was to laze at the deck and watch the day passed. It might be boring for some, but sometimes we need a trip like this to recharge.
Starry night at the deck.
